In this assignment you have the opportunity to use a simple simulation to investigate the behaviour of a pollutant in an environmental reservoir, such as carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
The simulation is much simpler than those used by professional environmental scientists, however it still contains enough features to introduce the basic idea behind environmental simulation.
The assignment involves two components
The two parts of the assignment complement one another but either could be explored in isolation if you do not have access to the relevant software.
The Excel spreadsheet (version 5) can be downloaded from here as a self-extracting Windows 95 zip archive, it occupies about 40 k. Mac users click here for advice. After downloading the file 'simulation.exe', double-click on the icon and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
