Introduction

This topic is about describing the way electrons are arranged around the nucleus of an atom. It begins with a brief summary of important information about shells, sub-shells and orbitals and finishes with a set of 10 quizzes involving writing and interpreting electronic configurations. This topic does not contain descriptions on the nature and shape of atomic orbitals or the evidence for their properties, this is well covered in many text books.
