Mike Docker obtained a B.Sc. in Chemistry at the University of Birmingham in 1984 and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at the University of Nottingham in 1987 under the supervision of Professor John Simons.
From 1987 to 1989 he was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Physical Chemistry Institute of the University of Zurich in the research group of Professor J Robert Huber.
From 1989 to 1992 he worked in the Remote Sensing Unit at BP Research in Sunbury-on-Thames.
In 1992 Mike left BP to pursue a career in teaching.
After a variety of short-term teaching posts Mike joined The Sixth Form College, Farnborough in 1994 and became Head of Chemistry in 1997.
From 1999 to 2012 Mike was Director of Information, Communication and Learning Technology at The Sixth Form College, Farnborough.
Since 2012 Mike has been developing the ChemGym web app ready for a full public launch in spring 2013.
